Sitting in his surgical gown inside a large medical suite a patient
was disappointed to discover the surgical team mocking his penis
and insulting him while he was asleep.
The patient from Vienna had prepared for his colonoscopy by
setting his smartphone to record the instructions his doctor would
give him after the procedure.
But he discovered that he had recorded the entire examination while
he was fast asleep.
According to Metro UK, he had set up his mobile phone to record
what was being said just in case he missed important information
for his rehabilitation.
The doctors laughed at his penis and suggested that he must have
been infected with dreaded Ebola Virus Disease.
Anesthesiologist Tiffany M Ingham didn’t know this and was
subsequently caught making a fool of herself on a recording during
the colonoscopy procedure in Reston, Virginia.
She said, “After five minutes of talking to you in pre-op, I wanted to
punch you in the face and man you up a little bit.”
When a medical assistant noted the patient identified as DB had a
rash, Ingham warned her not to touch it.
She said, “You might get some syphilis on your arm or something,
it’s probably tuberculosis in the penis, so you’ll be all right.”
Gastroenterologist Soloman Shah, who was examining the patient,
also got involved when he joked another doctor they both knew
‘would eat him for lunch.’
The abuse cost Ingham and the practice an eye watering £318,000
after the patient successfully sued them for medical malpractice and
defamation.
Hopefully, this would serve as a deterrent to other medical
practitioners to uphold the ethics of their jobs and keep their cool
despite what they see while delivering on their duties.
