Ex-Governor Akpabio Refuses To Leave Akwa Ibom Governor’s Lodge (Read More)

Reports have emerged of how former governor of Akwa Ibom state,
Goodswill Akpabio, has bizarrely refused to leave the state
governors’ mansion following the expiration of his tenure in May.
Sources close to the current government told Sahara Reporters that,
Akpabio relocated from the presidential suite of the Gubernatorial
Lodge to the luxurious VIP suite, and this move comes at the period
when the governor is being accused embezzlement of public funds,
financial recklessness, and laundering the state public funds for his
selfish gains.
It was gathered that, Akpabio, Mr. Etekamba Umoren, former
permanent secretary government house and Mr. Udo Isobara, former
accountant general of the state are the three men responsible for
embezzling close to N60 billion of state funds.
The trio have been exposed by Leo Ekpenyong and Co., a soliciting
and legal practitioner’s firm based in Abuja, who filed a petition
personally against the former governor, Akpabio.
In petition the firm said the former governor is guilty of “graft and
money laundering perpetrated with impunity and utter disregard of
laid down financial regulations and due process.”
The firm also alleged that it had documents to back up the claims of
gross financial mismanagement. The firm  also urged the  EFCC and
Federal Government to investigate Akpabio thoroughly.
