I Didn't Steal Up To 26 Phones -- Emmanuel Adebayor's Brother Tells His Own Story

Rotimi Adebayor who was accused of stealing and several other
allegations levelled against him by his older brother has finally
opened up on his own side of the story in this revealing interview
with the Sun .
Read below...
Are the allegations levelled against you untrue?
I have my own story as well but ‘Omo ti owo e o ti te eeku
ida ko gbodo bere iku ti o pa baba re’ (A child who is yet to
take control of the sword should not seek reasons for his
father’s death)
But you have apologized to him; did he accept your plea?
No response from him yet. I apologised because he is my
elder brother and we have resolved so settle issues
amicably. My elder sister advised us to bury the hatchet.
You met him at a training pitch yesterday (Thursday, May 21)…
Yes, we met and he said, ‘Omo Iya ba wo ni’ (My brother
how are you). However, I didn’t play with them because I
wasn’t in the mood.
And you didn’t wait for him after the training.
No, I was there till he left but he didn’t greet me as he drove
off.
He is a superstar indeed?
I agree, yes he is
And you annoyed him so much that he made such revelations about
you?
Hmh! I can’t explain what happened
But you know what happened to the missing 21 phones including
play station games from 27 players?
(Smiles) No, 26 players excluding me. ‘Mi o kin se ole’ (I am
not a thief)
Is it because you cannot steal your own phone?
‘Mi o ji mobile phone, Mo ri he ni’ (I didn’t steal any mobile
phone. I fortuitously found them and picked)
How did it happen and when?
It was at the FC Metz football Academy in France and I was
14 years old then. My mates were already at the training
pitch on that day, so I was running to meet up with them
when I found the mobile phone on the aisle within the
training complex.
So you picked it and didn’t declare that you found a mobile phone,
which belongs to your teammate.
That was the mistake I made and I regretted it thereafter.
Actually I kept it on the table in my room and my roommate
wanted to know who owns the phone because he didn’t
have any then. I told him how I found it, and then he de
manded to make use of it.
What’s his name?
Kelvin. He is an American and the owner of the phone is
from Asia but from an ‘Arab country’ The ‘Arab’ boy saw the
phone with Kelvin and immediately reported the case to the
management of the academy.
They informed my brother about it. He called me to hear my
side of the story but I was later informed to pack my things
out of the academy.
Your brother has released three posts on Facebook to paint a bad
picture of the family?
It’s really disheartening that such a thing is happening to us
right now. My wife was mocked at the market after the first
post Seyi (Emmanuel Adebayor) published on Facebook.
She called me to inform me about what people are saying.
Immediately I logged in and read the post. I felt very sad.
What did you do thereafter?
I called him and asked him why he had to do that but he got
angry with me. We had a heated argument on phone, which
led to unprintable words being used freely. As a matter of
fact, we quarrelled over the phone for almost two hours.
You hurled insults on your elder brother who made you and the Ade
bayor family famous?
Yes I did that because I felt very sad and embarrassed. Then
he made a decision to inflict more insinuations against me.
How?
He called my phone before he released the second post on
Facebook. He asked me to go and read the second posts,
which he wanted to release in 30 minutes.
And…
He did in exactly thirty minutes and before I could log into
my F acebook account, my friends called me to quickly go
and read the second part of my ‘film’.
What film?
The post he released, the second rant against the family. It’s
sad because our mother, who poured her blood on our
heads, received the greatest insult of her life. A woman who
suffered so that we can live a good life is now receiving such
a disgraceful accusation.
You mean the witchcraft allegation?
Yes and all those nonsense things he wrote against me and
our elder sister in Ghana. Well, we have decided to leave it
all in God’s hand. Our mother is a not a witch neither does
she practice witchcraft. How can your mother wish you bad
luck? I play football as well and I know that players do suffer
loss of form. He shouldn’t put the blame on anyone.
He said that he sent a huge amount of money to save Peter’s life
but alleged that the family squandered the money?
To be honest, he did. Seyi sent the money but it was
judiciously spent to meet his (Peter’s) health needs. He
suffered before he died.
Some people in Togo are of the opinion that Peter died as result of
the hard substances he used to inhale?
No, he wasn’t into such but he was hooked on
‘Igbo’ (Indian hemp), which affected him mentally. He was
such great person who also helped financially to make Seyi
achieve his football dream.
And the family didn’t spend the money very well for his
rehabilitation?
No, we did but he died. We lost him in 2013. His death and
our father’s in 2005 are factors that have affected the family
in a big way but I wouldn’t like to be drawn into such issues
now.
What happened to Seyi’s home in Ghana?
He has over 50 houses in Lome and currently lives in
Didjole. He also has some others in Ghana. He has taken
custody of everything.
What about the house he alleged your elder sister rented out?
‘Oro ase ni yen se’ (They are unrealistic words)
Opinions are divided among the citizens of Togo concerning
Emmanuel Adebayor’s biological mother?
People can say whatever they like. He is my elder brother
and we know we have the same mother. I am less bothered
about the rumour going round the city.
You blamed yourself for the lingering crisis in the family. What did
you do?
A lot of people do not understand the beginning of this issue
but I put the blame on myself because of the boy I wanted to
help. His name is Masaudu. He’s from the Republic of
Benin. I brought him from the rough side of the border so
that he can help us with some domestic work. He grew up
with the family and betrayed us. Masaudu cooked up stories
for Seyi to believe and he succeeded in destroying our fam
ily. He was the one that was sent to inform our mother to
pack out of the house. But I believe that God’s judgment will
prevail. I will continue to appeal to him (Emmanuel
Adebayor) to be considerate in his judgment. I want him to
forgive and forget in the memory of our late father and forget
what people are telling him. We have our children and we
shouldn’t let this issue degenerate into generational fight.

"Growing Up, I Had To Beg Friends For Money To Feed" - Tonto Dikeh

Controversial actress Tonto Dikeh reflected on her very frustrating
and humble beginning. Most people see Tonto Dikeh as a very
proud and rude lady but she is also human so she definitely have a
very subtle side and she let that part out on Instagram when
advising her fans never to give up their struggle in life.
The light-skinned actress who will be a Mr's Soon wrote..
“Growing up life was not easy, not after I lost my mom at the
age of three. Though I thank my step mom for keeping up
with my rudeness and stubbornness. Sometimes, I felt like
killing myself but God saw me through that stage in my life
and sometimes I sit and ask God why me?
At the age of twenty, I said to myself `I wouldn’t ask my dad
for money- I wanted to be independent. I tried traveling to
UK but I got refused at Nigerian Embassy, not because my
documents were not complete but because I didn’t have the
connection to pass through.
University life was so hard for me, handouts I could not
afford, I begged from hand to mouth just to eat! Sometimes,
I considered going back to my dad but ego and pride
wouldn’t let me. Then, all my jeans were Alaba bend-down-
select. If the jeans was longer than me I would cut it to my
size to make it look rugged! If I asked friends for a favour,
before they helped they would ask me to do something for
them in return, like cleaning their rooms, or helping with
course work”
Tonto then went on to advise her fans never to give up in
their struggle to make it in life.

"No Man Can Handle My Personality Apart From My Husband" -- Omotola Jalade

The entertainer who recently raised her voice to fight poverty
alongside the likes of Waje and Yemi Alade for the ‘One campaign’
opened up in a chat with Vanguard on her decision to get married
at the early age of 18.
When asked if she would have been a wife to another man if she
had not married her husband, She said:
I don’t think so, because I don’t think there is any man that
can handle me apart from my husband. Not because I am a
bad person, it is because I am a very strong personality. I
can understand why a lot of female artistes find it very
difficult to find the right person.
When you achieve some kind of success, you become really
confused as to who really loves you for who you are. It’s not
really easy, it is very hard finding those people who really
love you. If you are not a very grounded person, you can
also contribute in some kind of way to your own problems
and so I might have contributed to my own problems.

My Life Threatened For Doing The Best For My Country – Allison-Madueke Speaks From London

Deziane  Alison-Madueke has alleged that her life is being
threatened by members of a powerful cabal who benefited from
petroleum subsidy fraud.
The  Nigeria’s first female Minister of Petroleum Resources and first
female President of OPEC, said the cabal is resisting the reform in
the sector.
According to her, despite her role in reforming the oil industry in
Nigeria to the benefit of all, she   found herself in the mucky water
of Nigerian politics mostly in last few days of President Goodluck
Jonathan’s administration.
In a three phase interview in London with freelance journalist
reporting for African Free Press, Allison-Madueke bares her mind
on how she reformed the oil sector in Nigeria and why the oil
cabals are on her throat.
Except
Honourable Minister,  thank you for granting me a few minutes of
your time for this pressing discussion about the future of policy
evolution in Nigeria. But I want you to quickly talk about the fuel
scarcity that has come just weeks before the hand-over to the new
administration.
The time of my appointment as Minister of Petroleum Resources
five years ago was a time when the nation was in the throes of
many years of continuous fuel scarcity and the abandonment of our
fuel facilities. This was having such an adverse impact on the
masses especially in terms of livelihood and quality of life. This
situation certainly affected me and my household. I was one of
those who went out to queue at filling stations and what left an
indelible mark on me was the plight of the many, many women who
were queuing for this essential commodity for their families. We are
looking at time when women where losing their lives as a result of
adulterated products as kerosene stoves were exploding all over
the country. So the problem was not just about getting access to
the product but also purchasing the right quality products to
ensure the safety of the households of my fellow women. It was a
time when cars were ‘knocking’ engines, generators that cost
hundreds of thousands of naira were also breaking down because
of adulterated products. People around the country were losing
many millions of Naira as a result of loss of business incomes and
we are talking of taxi drivers, face-me-I-face-you traders in the
market, the lorry drivers transporting food to the markets, the
okada drivers – basically the engine room of the economy was
affected.
I am a mother and grandmother myself and I understand the
pressure that women go through in order to put food on the table
for their families. I am very sensitive to the struggles of the Nigerian
woman. So, when granted the opportunity to serve the country as
Petroleum Resources minister, I made this my first priority. Dealing
with the fuel scarcity was a key issue that I resolved to address as
soon as I stepped into office. Nigeria is a country that relies on
access to petroleum products for businesses to thrive, for families
to survive and for communities to evolve. For me it was a
fundamental issue. I immediately set to the task. Several inter-
ministerial committees were formed to get to the root of the matter
including liaising with marketers and the unions.
A few things were identified such as the process of payment to
marketers as well as the improvement of the distribution and
monitoring mechanisms. The Ministry of Finance is charged with
addressing the payment process while the Ministry of Petroleum
Resources and its parastatals tackle production, distribution and
monitoring aspects.
So what did you do in terms of tackling the issue of access to
products?
Firstly sectorial reforms were put in place, and an attempt was
made to establish a uniform pricing regime across the country,
which still requires task forces to be put in place to oversee its
success. Secondly, an aggressive strategy was completed to build
as well as refurbish over 23 Nigerian National Petroleum
Corporation (NNPC) depots across the country many of which had
lain fallow for several years. This is the result of the determined
efforts of the Pipelines and Product Marketing Company (PPMC), a
subsidiary of the NNPC. The aggressive establishment of the depots
occurred from Aba to Benin, from Gusau to Suleja, in an attempt to
ensure a more robust delivery of products, to not only those areas
but also all contingent areas. Thirdly many vandalized pipelines
have been restored and expanded in addition, fuel products are now
transported by rail where possible to ensure that the products get
to  the depots in good time to avert situations of shortage.
Furthermore, NNPC now holds and maintains a 30-day stock of
PMS, as part of the National Strategic Stock Reserve for products.
The Ministry has also increased the flash point for DPK (kerosene)
from 44 to 45 (curbing the incidences of kerosene cookers
exploding) – I cannot remember the last time a kerosene cooker
has exploded; implemented inspection of trucks at each NNPC
Depot for cleanness (preventing contamination) and lab testing of
truck samples for quality control.  DPR also introduced colour
coding for all trucks loading any petroleum product this means the
trucks cannot be used for any other purpose apart from what it has
been coded to load. Many Nigerians will attest to the fact that
before now, the country has been “wet” with products with even
filling stations in remote areas, able to dispense products.
I also led the roll out of robust measures to identify and penalise
those behind the activities of fuel adulteration as well as pipeline
vandalism, in a joint effort between security agencies, the NNPC
and the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR). The first joint
meeting between the key parastatals, the Service Chiefs and
Inspector General of Police took place at the Oriental Hotel. It was
the first meeting of its kind in the history of the sector.
So if all these measures have been put in place why has there been
this crippling fuel crisis?
The fuel scarcity that we see today I can only describe as the ‘fear
of the unknown’ in these last few days before hand-over. It is also a
backlog following the attempts by the government to stamp-out the
subsidy fraud and clean the system in November 2011. Identifying
and cutting out up to 92 marketers who had been round-tripping
reduced the subsidy payments by about 50%. This also brought
about a few delays in payment, as the investigations to identify
erring marketers were robust and took time.
We are faced with a situation where the marketers want this
administration to pay them ALL the money they are owed before the
tenure runs out on May 29. This is a difficult situation more
peculiarly because this administration did not incur ALL the debt,
which actually goes back 40 years. It is a rolling obligation. There
has never been a time, when the debt obligations was reduced to
zero it is cyclical. What the marketers are asking for is not just the
outstanding amount to be paid but also for the exchange rate
differential that they have incurred. This is in the light of the many
conversations that are on going about deregulating the subsidy
payments. The transition period is allowing the marketers to try to
forestall any losses as a result of a change in regime, while this
makes good business sense it is the polity that suffer. The Ministry
of Finance and the presidency are giving this situation the priority it
deserves.
The fuel scarcity was mingled with strikes by different unions
(Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN), Nigeria
Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) etc.) what
is going on?
The strike was about two things. First the union workers were
demanding for salary increases at a time when the NNPC’s running
cost is already extremely high. How are we going to increase
salaries when we are currently looking at ways to cap expenses and
more especially keep things in a consistent and clear state for the
new regime that is coming into effect.
Secondly, the strike by the NUPENG arm of NPDC has come about
following the decision to move NPDC from a sole operator model to
a joint operatorship model for some of its assets. This was done to
increase the production volumes from those assets, which had
remained consistently low for some time. The reason production
has been low is as a result of the sheer cost that NPDC has had to
bear in operating the assets. These joint venture partners that have
been brought in to alleviate the cost pressure are operating under
extremely stringent terms to ensure that the ownership of the
assets remain with the government. The companies have also had
to take out huge loans with moratoriums of up to 10 years in order
to perform their activities to successfully meet the production
volume expectations. So in many ways this situation can be
regarded as a win-win for the government, NPDC and the JV
operators, which would begin to yield great benefits for the
generality of Nigerians, as the boost in volumes would inevitably
lead to a boost in the nations revenue from the sector.
I am sincerely pleased that the unions have come to this realization
and taken into consideration the sufferings of many millions of
Nigerians during the period of the fuel scarcity. It was truly a
heartbreaking time for me… heartbreaking as fuel scarcity is one
issue I consistently fought to avoid given its impact on women and
their families as well as businesses. Yes, I am very happy that life
will begin to return to normal across the country as we have the
National Strategic Stock Reserve ready to be distributed across the
country.
Lets talk about some of the allegations that you face with regards
ensuring stability of supply across the country more specifically
about the debate on the subsidy. The memory of Occupy Nigeria is
still distant but we see this same situation by marketers holding the
country to ransom?
Let me start by making the distinction that the decision as to
whether subsidy payments are made or not is entirely economic
and outside my purview as Ministry of Petroleum Resources. What
we are responsible for is the production, distribution and marketing
aspects. What we also do is give a view as to the status in terms of
these 3 areas and the decision becomes an economic one from the
Presidency.
In terms of my direct actions in November 2011, following the high
incidence of subsidy claims, with a stroke of the pen, I removed 92
throughput marketers from the PPPRA scheme because we believed
that within the group were the round trippers who were causing
problems for the country in term of the burgeoning levels of subsidy
payments. As a consequence of this action, the amount of subsidy
payments dropped by over 50%.
A series of probes where kicked-off to investigate the transactions
of these marketers and to begin to bring in a level of accountability
and transparency into the system of subsidy payments. The lists of
these marketers were also published in the local press and a series
of probes ensued. The marketers had to justify their claims to the
payments. This was the first ever-major cleanup of the subsidy
programmes and yet again the ministry was vindicated and
offending marketers are going through the legal implications of
their actions.
The Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) was
also restructured and the processes in place for the determination
of subsidy payments were comprehensively reviewed.
But these actions led to major push back by many with accusations
of corruption against the ministry and NNPC to get us to back
down. I am sure I stepped on the toes of the greedy cabals that
have dominated the sector for years, upset at the change in the
system.  The push back has come from many other sources beyond
the marketers.  The funny thing is these are the same people that
shout corruption the loudest but yet are unable to accept the
reforms that are being put in place to make the sector more
accountable so we are almost caught between a rock and hard
place in the sector.
[The minister at this point puts her hands on her head and sighs]
In fact this is where the bane of my problems as a woman in
government began. I wonder why people seem to want to put a tag
of corruption against my name when all I have ever tried to do is to
open the sector up for more Nigerians and make it work better for
the benefit of the country. If I were corrupt would we have achieved
the extent of reform that has occurred in the sector to date? Ah my
brother, I have worked tirelessly to curtail the excesses while
ensuring that the country remains wet with products and the sector
run more efficiently. I have constantly ignored the viciousness and
focused on my job.
The most important point to make in terms of stability of supply is
that today, marketers have a clear contract to deliver their products
on specified dates. Marketers are put under strict terms to deliver
products at dates specified if they miss the cut off date for delivery
then their cargo goes into demurrage which in itself acts as an
incentive to ensure supplies.
More recently, as part of the transition activity I have instructed
that all of the swap operators across the board provide detailed
and clear reports about their export and import activities so that a
reconciliation can be conducted and published for all Nigerians to
see. These swap transactions involve extremely high volumes and
huge cost obligations to banks. The contracts with these operators
are very stringent indeed and delivery specifications clear. There
are serious ramifications to the operators for non-delivery most
especially by the banks for non-delivery this is dependent generally
on the lines of credit arrangements.
This is being done as part of my commitment to accountability and
transparency to Nigerians. It will also put to bed the various claims
in the press about different alleged practices by the operators that
are being associated to me. The operators deal with the NNPC
according to tight contractual agreements.
All the swap operators were well vetted and passed as credible
Nigerian corporations capable of executing such major stringent
contracts with no room for any offences to the system. So when you
have strict contracts in place and bank obligations it is surprising
that mischief-makers can say that I am in league with some of
these operators in acts of corruption! It shows that they have no
idea how the system works and I would ask that they educate
themselves before they speak. If Aiteo, or any other operator were
cheating the NNPC it would be made public as the system has been
reorganized to do this automatically. The publication of the
reconciled transactions from the time the contracts were assigned
to them will also be a testament to this commitment. Erring
contractors will be made to face the legal implications of any
wrongdoings that are uncovered.

Buhari, Osinbajo Deliver On First Campaign Promise

President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo
have delivered on their first campaign promise, with the declaration
of their assets to the  as required by the Constitution.
The 1999 Constitution of the country, as amended, states in
Chapter VI Section 140 that a person elected to the office of
President shall not begin to perform the functions of that office until
he has declared his assets and liabilities as prescribed in the
Constitution.
Though the contents of the assets declaration forms filled by the
president and vice president were not disclosed as at press time, it
was gathered that the forms had already been submitted and duly
acknowledged by its Chairman, Sam Saba, on Friday.
Confirming the development in a statement yesterday, head of
Buhari’s media team, Garba Shehu, in a statement, said the
President and Vice President submitted their assets declaration
forms separately on Thursday.
He said Buhari’s declarant identity was given as: President:
000001/2015.
“By declaring their assets, President Buhari and Vice President
Osinbajo may have not only fulfilled the requirements of the
Nigerian Constitution, but also fulfilled the first of their many
campaign promises.
“While seeking election into the highest office in the land, the
president had promised Nigerians that he would publicly declare his
assets as soon as he took over government,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, if information on the website of the Revenue
Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission(RMAFC) is anything
to go by, President Buhari will earn a basic monthly salary of N292,
892.08, while Osinbajo will take home N252, 63.04 as his monthly
basic salary.
RMAFC is statutorily empowered by Section 32 (d) of Part 1 of the
Third Schedule of the Constitution to determine the remuneration
appropriate for political office holders. The salaries and allowances
are drawn from the Consolidated Revenue Fund. The current salary
structure and allowances were fixed by the RMAFC in 2007.
The RMAFC website puts the annual basic salaries of the nation’s
number one citizen and his that of Vice President at N3, 514, 705
and N3, 031, 572.50 respectively.
The current salary structure and allowances were fixed by the
RMAFC in 2007 and there is no indication on the agency’s website
that the wages have been reviewed.
For Buhari, with other allowances, the total amount payable
monthly is N1, 171,568.33 and N14, 058, 820.00 per annum.
In the case of Osinbajo, he is entitled to a total of N1, 010, 524. 17
monthly, and N12, 126,290.00 per annum.
Besides basic salaries, the nation’s two topmost public officers are
also entitled to various regular allowances such as hardship, 50 per
cent of the basic salary – N1, 757, 350.50; consistency – 250 per
cent, N8, 786, 762.50.
Their irregular allowances include accommodation and furniture.
These are provided for by government in Aso Rock, where they will
reside during their tenure. However, the nation’s leaders will
receive regular duty tour allowance (per night), estacode (per night)
and medical allowances when requested.
The allowances are paid periodically, some monthly and a few once
in four years. Duty Tour Allowance and Estacode depend on travels.
According to information on the website, the president’s severance
gratuity is N10, 544, 115, that is 300 per cent of basic; he is
entitled to a leave allowance of N351, 470. 50 (10 per cent of basic
salary) and optional motor vehicle loan of N14, 058, 820, of 400 per
cent, to be repaid before the expiration of the president’s tenure.
Prof Osinbajo will also get allowances such as motor vehicle,
feeding and maintenance, special assistant, personal assistant,
domestic staff, entertainment utility, security, newspaper and
periodicals, while the number two man’s hardship, consistency,
severance gratuity and leave allowance are at N1, 515, 786.25; N7,
578, 931.25; N9, 094, 717.50 and N303, 157.25 respectively.
He will also receive a motor vehicle loan of 400 per cent of his basic
salary which is N12, 126, 290; to be repaid at the expiration of his
tenure.
Buhari denies travel ban on Jonathan’s ministers, aides
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari dismissed insinuations
that he had placed a travel ban on officials of past administrations
including ministers from travelling outside the country
He said they are entitled to their full rights and privileges under the
Constitution and must not be subjected to any undue harassment
and intimidation at the airports or at other points of entry and exit.
Buhari in a statement signed by Shehu, on Saturday, however
directed all agencies under the government to run their affairs in
full compliance with extant rules, regulations and the constitution
of the country.
“Unless otherwise directed by the courts, no law-abiding citizens
should be barred from travelling abroad. We must treat fellow
citizens with courtesy and respect. Officials at the borders and other
points of entry and exit should conduct their affairs in strict
compliance with due process. No one has my permission to bar
anyone from travelling abroad,” the president said.
In another development, the British Prime Minister, David Cameron
has requested President Muhammadu Buhari to attend the forth
coming G 7 industrialised nations meeting with a “wish list.”
Head of media of the Buhari Campaign Organisation, in a press
statement, yesterday, quoted the prime minister as urging President
Buhari to come with a list of areas he would like the country to be
assisted.
The G 7 meeting is, scheduled for June 7-9 in Berlin, Germany.
Delivering his goodwill message to the new President at a meeting
on Friday shortly after the inauguration, British Secretary for
Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Philip Hammond said his Prime
Minister had requested for a list of what Nigeria wanted, to help
succeed against the current challenges facing the country.
“We are waiting for your own list,” said the minister on behalf of
Cameron.
This meeting was a follow-up to an earlier one between the then
President-elect and Prime minister Cameron, at which
commitments were given to the in-coming administration in several
areas, including the fight against terrorism, power and energy and
such matters of common concerns of migration challenges facing
the continent as well what he called “intelligence fusion” to secure
Africa from global terror.
He also raised the issue of “free trade” between the EU and Africa, a
proposal he said enjoyed the support of several countries on the
continent and in support of which he sought to enlist the backing of
President Buhari.
President Buhari had promised to prepare the government’s
aspirations for the summit, which he said he would attend.
Mr. Han Changfu, the leader of the Chinese delegation, who is also
China’s Minister of Agriculture, equally urged President Buhari to
open avenues for Chinese investments in Nigeria.
China promised to help Nigeria out in several areas including
agriculture, power, railways and other infrastructure.
Meanwhile, speaking while receiving President of South Africa,
Jacob Zuma, Buhari expressed his wish to work with Zuma to fight
terrorism in Africa and outside the continent.
President Urges Prayers Over High Expectations
President Muhammadu Buhari has implored Nigerians to pray more
for divine help so that their high expectations would become
reality.
He also regretted that what the country had earned from 1999 till
date was not translated into sustainable development, hence
plunging Nigeria into deep trouble.
Buhari, who spoke at the inauguration gala organised at the
Presidential Villa on Friday night observed that youth
unemployment which had been pervasive throughout the country
was a keg of gun powder that needed to be dealt with.
Acknowledging that Nigerians love to pray, he urged them to pray
more for luck to enable their expectations to be met particularly in
the area of youth unemployment.
“We have realised our problems, we have made the sacrifice.
Nigerians pray a lot. We need to pray even more for luck so that
their expectations are deeply helped especially the youths.
“I know that more than 65 per cent of Nigeria’s population are
youths. Most of them are not employed whether they have been to
school or not. This is the keg of gun powder we are sitting on,” he
stated.
The president said he was confident that with the assistance of
friendly countries and the cooperation of Nigerians, the problems in
the country would be surmounted.
“Nigeria’s friends from Europe and America have spoken to me
personally and in Africa. They have known our troubles in this
country and they are the troubles we identified which I mentioned
during my campaign throughout the country.
“Firstly, security, the country has to be secured and efficiently
managed. This is what APC is all about. That’s why the legacy
parties made the sacrifice of jettisoning their personal ambitions,
trying to come together and took the bull by the horn and therefore
brought it down and slaughtered it literally.”
Buhari assured that his administration would immediately act to
secure the country by articulating a programme of action after
reading the handover notes given to him by the previous
administration.
Thanking Cameroon, Niger and Chad for physically coming to help
Nigeria in the war against terror, the president said, “we are going
to articulate our requirements when we study the handover notes
from the previous government and consult our immediate
neighbours and then consult our friends in Europe and America to
help us.
“We have identified the quickest way to go about it, agriculture and
mining, to feed ourselves, to get everybody employed and in the
process, earn skills. We are going to do that. And God willing, the
cooperation promised by our friends and the understanding
displayed now by our elite, will make it possible for us to make
progress.
“We have made our point to Nigerians and to our friends that we
will try and secure Nigeria as soon as possible.”
Buhari appealed to Nigerians to show understanding with his
government as he noted that a lot of damage had been done to the
country since 1999 whereas the present administration was
expected to do more with less resources.
The president stated, “and I ask Nigerians, please, bear with us. A
lot of damage has been done. If you can recall what Nigeria earned
between 1999 and now, what was the condition of our
infrastructure in 1999, what is it now, how come that what we
earned is not physically translated into sustained development?
“It is now on us with less resource in terms of debt servicing, less
revenue from oil to do much more. But I believe with the
cooperation of Nigerians and the cooperation of developed
countries and with our natural resources and with our talents, I
believe we will make a lot of progress.”
Buhari criticised past elections conducted in the country, noting
that politicians simply wrote election results in their sitting rooms
and announced them to the media.
He expressed delight that the situation had now changed with the
introduction of technology such as the Permanent Voter Card (PVC)
and the Card Reader (CR) in the nation’s election process.
“For us in Nigeria to somehow realise this seriousness and agreed
to stand firm with the help of technology, the PVC and the CR
because the previous exercises, it was the same motion we went
through. Those that think they are important, they sit in their sitting
rooms or party headquarters, write results, go to the radio houses
and television houses and announce results and say whoever didn’t
agree should go to court.
“If people are struggling for the next meal, not even tomorrow’s
meal, how can they go to court? I went to court three times and
ended up in the Supreme Court with the help of Nigerians because
they believed in this system and God in His infinite mercy has made
it possible this year,” he added.
The gala night was attended by some foreign leaders, Nigeria’s
past leaders, members of the Diplomatic Corps, captains of industry
and other important personalities.

ISIL Launches Offensive Against Syria’s Hasakeh

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group have launched
an assault on the largely Kurdish city of Hasakeh in northeast Syria,
a UK-based monitoring group has said. Aljazeera has more:
The attack on Saturday came a day after Kurdish militia executed 20
civilians accused of supporting ISIL, the the Syrian Observatory for
Human Rights said. “ISIL fighters started an assault on Hasakeh city
and reached the city’s southern periphery, where they are clashing
with pro-regime forces,” said Observatory head Rami Abdel
Rahman.
He said the pro-government National Defence Forces militia had
blocked the ISIL advance on the city’s edges and reported heavy
shelling.
Syria’s official news agency SANA said loyalist forces had “foiled a
terrorist attack by ISIL on military points near Hasakeh”. Control of
Hasakeh, capital city of the province by the same name, is split
between President Bashar al-Assad’s regime and Kurdish
forces. Abdel Rahman said at least 10 government loyalists had
been killed, but he had no immediate information on ISIL casualties.

Islamic State Militants In Libya ‘Seize Sirte Airport’

Islamic State militants in Libya say they have seized the airport in
the city of Sirte, as the group continues to make advances in the
country. The news was announced by the group and by a Libyan
militia that withdrew from the coastal city’s airport on Thursday.
BBC reports:
Most of Sirte, former leader Muammar Gaddafi’s hometown, fell to
IS last week. In a statement, the group said it had also seized the
Great Man Made River water project. The irrigation project, the
world’s largest, supplies fresh water to Libyan cities and was also
the base for the opposition Battalion 166, which has now fled.
The battalion, and other Islamist militias, run the capital, Tripoli,
although their government is not recognised by the international
community.
The al-Ghardabiya airport also housed an airbase, that was seized
by militias after being bombed by Nato forces during the battle to
oust Gaddafi in 2011.

Syria Barrel Bomb Attacks ‘Kill Scores’ In Aleppo

A series of barrel bombs dropped by Syria’s government has killed
at least 75 people and wounded dozens others in Aleppo province,
according to medical sources and a monitoring group. The deaths
occurred in two separate incidents on Saturday when helicopters
dropped explosives-filled barrels, which are deemed illegal under
international law. Aljazeera reports:
One barrel bomb hit the rebel-held Shaar neighbourhood of the city
of Aleppo, killing at least 20 people, most of them from the same
family, local activists have told Al Jazeera. In the second attack, at
least 55 people were killed after bombs hit a busy market in al-Bab
city – about 40km northeast of Aleppo city, which is controlled by
the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which documents
violence through a network of activists on the ground, dubbed the
al-Bab attack as a “massacre”, adding that the number of dead
likely would rise because many of the wounded were in critical
condition.
This comes a day after rebel fighters seized the last government-
controlled town in the country’s northwestern province of Idlib
after government forces retreated to their coastal bases, according
to activists and a monitoring group. A Syrian coalition known as the
Fattah Army seized the town of Ariha on Thursday, giving the group
full control of Idlib province.
The Fattah Army is made up of several armed groups, notably the
Nusra Front. Hadi al-Abdallah, a Syrian activist reporting from
Ariha, told Al Jazeera that dozens of Syrian soldiers were killed in
the clashes.

Mother Plans To Breastfeed Daughter Till Age 10, Still Breastfeeding Her At Age 6

Extended breastfeeding is highly unusual in today’s world, which is
why 6-year-old Amina’s case is making headlines. At age 52, her
mother – belly dancing expert and human rights activist Maha Al
Musa – is one of the oldest women in the world to be
breastfeeding. Scoop has more:
Although she’s garnering a lot of interest and some criticism, Maha
says that she’s only responding to her daughter’s natural desire.
“Sometimes it tastes like candy canes. It tastes like lots of different
things,” said Amina, who reportedly enjoys “sleeping and sucking”
her mother’s breasts, and plans to continue for at least another two
years. “I might stop when I’m eight. It’s my favorite thing to do
when I’m not at school.
More kids should, because it’s good for you,” the little girl added.
According to Maha, who lives and raises her children in the
Australian town of Byron Bay, breastfeeding an older child is
“perfectly natural,” even in public. “She says to me, ‘Mummy
milkie.’ I could be in the middle of doing something or talking and
it’s so natural to us, we don’t make a big deal of it,” she said.
Although critics say the practice does not provide nutritional
benefits over the age of one, Maha disagrees. “chest milk helps to
regulate a child’s blood sugar so for example a toddler having a
tantrum can be calmed through the chest milk,” she said. “Two
years ago when I was 50 and Aminah was 4.5 I had my chest milk
tested at the University of WA biochemistry department where they
do a lot of research on human milk. This was the first time they had
tested a woman’s milk of my age group and I can report that my
milk still had all the properties and nutrients relative to that of a
woman half my age with a smaller baby has. So this fact is worth
noting when people’s opinion claims chest milk has no nutrients
after a child reaches one year of age.”

Father Marries His Own Son After Living Together As Couple For More Than 50 Years

A father and a son got married in Pennsylvania, after living together
as a couple for more than 50 years. Bill Novak and Norman
MacArthur, both 70, vacated an adoption and instead became a
married couple. Novak and MacArthur originally went through the
adoption process for estate planning after being unable to marry in
the state.
According to Scoop , The couple, who have been together for
more than 50 years, registered as domestic partners in New York
City, many years ago. After moving to Bucks County, they learned
that state law prohibits same-s*x marriages. They were advised by
a lawyer to became legally related through adoption.
15 years ago, Novak adopted MacArthur. Now, the couple’s request
to annul the adoption was granted, allowing them to marry. After
receiving their marriage license, Novak and MacArthur said that
they are happy to be married. They will hold a large ceremony for

Murray Dismisses Kyrgios as Nadal, Djokovic Advance

French Open seeds, Novak Djokovic’s, Andy Murray’s and Rafael
Nadal’s journey in Paris hit full swing on Day 7 as youngster Jack
Sock maintained his impressive run in the clay season with a place
in the round of 16.
British No. 1 Andy Murray despatched rising star Nick Kyrgios 6-4,
6-2, 6-3 to book his fourth round place on Saturday.
The third seed brought his experience and craftiness to bear against
Kyrgios, who was struggling with a right forearm injury.
“I have watched a lot of his matches, so obviously I know what his
personality is like,” Murray is quoted on ATP as saying of Kyrgios.
“He does have a game style and a personality on the court that
lends itself to playing big matches on big courts. Sometimes you
don’t feel like you’re able to control what’s happening out there
because he’s hitting huge shots and sometimes playing shots that
no one else tries. So you’re not expecting it, either.”
Both players traded service breaks early into the opening set before
Murray broke free in the seventh game, which also witnessed the
shot of the week when the Australian’s ‘tweeter’ lob got the better
of the Scot.
Kyrgios struggled to make proper use of his weak arm as the
second set wore on and even had to take a medical time-out after
seven games. He aimed at mounting a fightback in the third set and
even led by a break at some point but Murray immediately broke
back to reclaim dominance.

Kyrgios produced some resilient play in the ninth game in a bid to
stay in contention and even saved a first match point with a fierce
forehand before following it up with a serve and volley play.
Murray however put paid to the day’s business on a second asking.
“I think he’s one of the best defenders of the game at the moment,”
Kyrgios said of Murray. “I wasn’t near one hundred per cent. Not to
take anything from him; he played unbelievable. I don’t think he
served well, but he made a lot of returns and he just does what he
does best, that’s make a lot of balls and mix up the game. He was
too good.”
The 28-year-old has now won his 13th straight match on Tour level
and will face Frenchman Jeremy Chady, who knocked out No. 17
seed David Goffin 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. Murray leads Chardy 6-1 in their
career head-to-head-meeting.
Top seed Djokovic outlasted 19-year-old Thanasi Kokkinakis 6-4,
6-4, 6-4 to reach the fourth round and extend his winning run to 25
matches.
The Serb hit 34 winners to just 12 unforced errors; better than the
Australian’s 27 to 28 winners to unforced errors differentials. It was
the pair’s first meeting ever.
Next up for Djokovic is Richard Gasquet, who beat No. 15 seed
Kevin Anderson 4-6, 7-6(4), 7-5, 6-4.
Rafael Nadal maintained his search for a tenth title at Roland Garros
with a 6-1, 6-3, 6-2 Andrey Kuznetsov.
Nadal will face Sock, who dominated Croatian 18-year-old Borna
Coric 6-2, 6-1, 6-4. It will be a first meeting between the pair.

Report: Bruce Jenner To Grace Vanity Fair Cover As A Woman

Multiple sources report that photographer Annie
Leibovitz will shoot Jenner’s first magazine cover
as a woman.

Bruce Jenner reportedly has been set to grace an upcoming cover of
Vanity Fair magazine. Posing for his first print photo shoot and
interview since revealing that he was transitioning from a man to a
woman in April, the former Olympian would appear on the cover as
a woman, multiple sources have reported.
Bruce’s Vanity Fair pictorial would be shot by legendary
photographer Annie Leibovitz and is set to hit newsstands
sometime this summer, a source from the publication has said.
Bruce announced his ongoing gender transformation in a revealing
interview with Diane Sawyer. Laverne Cox, the first openly
transgender person to be nominated for an Emmy Award in the
acting category, congratulated Bruce soon after his interview was
aired, writing on Twitter, “It is always brave to stand in one’s truth.
Congrats darling.”
Earlier this year, the gold medalist taped private conversation
between him and his family about his gender transition for E!’s
special “Keeping Up with the Kardashians: About Bruce”.
After the special episode aired earlier this month, Bruce said he had
been since overwhelmed with tons of positive comments and
support from fans and even celebrity friends.
During the emotional episode, Bruce’s stepdaughter Khloe
Kardashian asked him, “Are you planning on not being Bruce any
time soon?” He replied, “That’s quite possible, yeah,” adding that he
would complete his gender transition “probably in the spring.”

Open Letter To Nigerian Celebrities “Especially Olamide” – Respect Your Fans

Gone are the days in the Nigeria entertainment Industry, where
celebrities were humble to their fans and also appreciated their fans
for the love and support shown to them, despite the Money and
Fame, they still maintain the humility and appreciate their fans. For
that fact, they still remain at the top spot for years, making sure
Nigeria Entertainment is known worldwide, But these days, virtually
all the celebrities we have are not appreciative and loyal to their
fans.
The Nigeria Indigenous Rapper, who calls himself “Baddo“, “Voice of
the Street” and a “Street King” which I do not see any street
credibility in the Rapper’s Lifestyle.
On the 28th of May, 2015, “The Place Club” was re-opened at Ikeja
G.R.A, a lot of celebrity came for the Launch. Meanwhile, the Yoruba
actor Omo banke and the Yoruba Gospel singer Lanre teriba were
outside the eatery, where they were catching fun with their fans.
Olamide drove inside and packed directly in front of the eatery, he
came out of his vehicle , wanting to go into the club, His loyal and
cherishing fan called and shouted “Badoo” hailing him and all
Olamide did was shunning the fan saying “ No shout my name, I no
like am, wetin be this ” with the I don’t care look, the loyal fan
actually removed his cap for olamide for the respect and was
ashamed for not getting at least a fair reply, instead was an harsh
one.
Another buoyant and Brave fan called Mr Dosunmu, who was
chilling with Omo Banke and Lanre Teriba, saw what Olamide did to
that fan, in anger shunned olamide saying “ Oga comot for here, shey
na only you dey buy you album? abi na only you go get money? Na
we dey listen to your songs and you no see or respect us for here “,
then olamide saw and heard what Mr Dosunmu said to him and
ignored it.
Omo banke went to meet him making him realise his wrong attitude
to his fan, then olamide entered the club, the loyal fan who was
shunned waited by Olamide’s car expecting apology. When Olamide
came out of the club entered his car with his Manager alex and
drove off. UNFORTUNATELY, Olamide did not apologise to the
Humble and loving Fan, which made the fan feel like a fool for the

HEALTH: 7 Warning Signs of Lung Cancer You Shouldn’t Ignore

Lung cancer is among the most common types of cancers in both
men and women worldwide. According to the U.S. National Cancer
Institute, approximately one out of every 14 men and women in the
U.S. will be diagnosed with lung cancer at some point in their
lifetime. In the U.S., lung cancer has surpassed breast cancer as the
most common cause of cancer-related deaths in women. But being
aware of the risk factors and paying attention to warning signs and
symptoms can save life.
Signs and symptoms of lung cancer
Warning signs of lung cancer are not always present or easy to
identify. In many cases lung cancer may not show any noticeable
symptoms in the early stages. But if you suspect that some of the
risk factors apply to you, then early screening may help people at
high risk for the disease.
A person with lung cancer may have the following symptoms:
1. Persistent cough or changes in cough
If you have a cold, your cough should go away after a week or two,
but if it persists over a long time, you should see your doctor. If you
are a smoker or suffers from chronic cough, notice if there are any
changes in your chronic cough, for example: coughing more
frequently, deeper cough with a deeper or hoarse sound, coughing
up blood or having more mucus than usual.
2. Shortness of breath
If you are short of breath while doing a task that you could have
done easily in the past, it may be a symptom of lung cancer. This
symptom can occur if lung tumor blocks or narrows an airway, or if
fluid from it builds up in the chest.
3. Chest and bone pain
One of the symptoms may be pain in the chest, shoulder, or back
area. Lung cancer that has spread to the bones may cause pain at
the sites of the affected bone. If it has spread to the brain it may
cause a number of neurological symptoms and headaches. So listen
to your body and if the pain persists and doesn’t go away, go to
see your doctor.
4. Wheezing
While a whistling sound when you breathe can result from asthma
or allergies, it can also be associated with lung cancer. If wheezing
persists, visit your doctor to find the cause of it.
5. Voice changes
Your voice becomes hoarser and deeper or you notice any other
significant changes in your voice. While hoarseness can result from
a simple cold, if it persists then go to see your doctor.
6. Persistent chest infections
Infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia that don’t go away or
keep coming back.
7. Weight loss, loss of appetite, fatigue and weakness
These are non-specific symptoms that can be seen with many other
cancer types or other diseases, but if the changes are unexplained
and persist, then go to your doctor to find the cause of it.

All or Nothing for Flying Eagles Coach at World Youth Championship

The Flying Eagles open their campaign against five-time champions
Brazil at the 11,000-capacity Stadium Taranaki in New Plymouth on
Monday.
“We have all it takes to go all the way and take the Cup back to
Nigeria,” Manu is quoted as saying on thenff.com .
Nigeria won a record-extending Caf Under-20 Championship in
Senegal in March, but have struggled to translate their continental
dominance on the world stage only finishing as runners-up on two
occasions (1989 & 2005).
New Zealand will mark the Flying Eagles’ fifth successive
appearance at the World Youth Championship, yet the closest they
have come was a second-placed finish behind Argentina in 2005.
”It is either the Cup or nothing else for Nigeria,” declared Manu, who
led the country to win a record fourth FIFA U-17 World Cup two
years ago in the United Arab Emirates.
“There is a lot of pressure but we do not allow it to affect us
because once we put yourself under pressure, you are most likely to
make a lot of mistakes.

“For us, we do not know the word pressure. We do our best and just

afternoon in a session which lasted for an hour and will have their
final training before the Brazil match on Sunday morning by 10am
local time.

Former Manchester United and Leads United defender, Rio

The ex-England international was released by relegated Queens

This was as a result of the review of the salary structure and
associated allowances for the top federal public office holders
earlier carried out by the National Salaries and Wages Commission.
This followed the review of the salary structure and associated

That review, which took effect on May 1, 2000, was contained in a
memo SWC.04/S.1/Vol.1V/186 dated May 15, 2000 and signed by
